Greetings

Greetings all,
As my initial post to this blog, I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself, and what I have planned here. My name is Sean. I was born and raised in Florida into a family of swimmers, boaters, and divers. So, from a young age the call to immersion slipped through my fontanelle and echoed in my not yet firm skull. With a lake in our backyard, Florida's freshwater springs just twenty minutes away, and the ocean ever at my fingertips, the early embers of enjoyment quickly fanned themselves into a hungry flame.

Though near everyone has experienced water's freeing effects, few have stopped to analyze it, or couch it in rational terms. For me, the water awakens a near-vestigial level of self-awareness. My mind is no longer thinking about 'to-do' lists, or life goals, or any other burdensome hurdles that can entangle us into a lock-step and lackluster dance through life. Instead, I become aware of myself. The beating of my heart, the air in my lungs, the weightlessness of my entire body suspended in a shimmering pool of liquid freedom. They become the only things that truly matter.

So, I have spent much of my life thus far seeking out the amazing in-water interactions that this world has to offer. I offer this blog for several purposes:

  • So that many may share in my adventures, to see these animals in the way that I have come to see them through my extensive personal training, in-water interactions, and topside observation.
  • To keep abreast of the great migrations many species undertake, as well as their aggregation sites, so that you may better understand them and better plan your own trips to see them.
  • Document exotic regional residential species. After all, many destinations offer year long guarantees that few know about!
With all that said, here is a quick video of some of my favorite interactions thus far:
